Like a rolling thunder chasing the wind

The Sunshine Coast wasn't so sunny on this particular day, but it's a beautiful place whatever the weather. We had wonderful weather for the most part during our time away, which meant lots of ocean swims. I dislike summer intensely, but if I have to be somewhere on a hot day, my choice would be in the water. It's one place where my heart doesn't seem to misbehave, & I seem to cope better being upright because of the weightlessness or something. So it's good medicine all round!
I bought this cotton frock at Salvos a while ago. I like the navy & white chevron stripes, & I added an op shopped button up top.

Mellow yellow and a maxi or two

I have a few finds to show you from our holiday up the coast, but for now I'll catch you up on some previous finds. I was never a fan of yellow in past years, but it's kinda grown on me lately. Now with wearing some occasional yellow, I simply must have matching accessories.
Here are some of my yellow finds....

Funky vintage yellow & black bracelet
Salvos

 Multi-strand necklace
Salvos

Old plastic (not sure what kind?) brooch which was in a $1 jewellery bits bag. It's actually quite large.
Salvos

Old Hong Kong made yellow beads
Salvos

Yellow knuckle-bone beads, because I was lacking yellow ones.

I picked up this handmade maxi dress from Salvos. Undecided about keeping it because I'm not sure it's really me.

And the world turns around

I missed last weeks Frock Friday, which also happened to be Valentines Day, because we're away at the beach for some R&R. The Captain always has to work through Christmas & the New Year, so we take some holidays when everyone else goes back to school & work. I'm not a fan of swimming in a crowded ocean.
These pics were taken at a special spot that I've been going to since I was a little girl.

We had a holiday in that house many years ago. I think I was about 10 years old. The cottage belongs to a family friend. I don't think it's changed one bit since then!

Toaster Cover Bag & Sewing Stuff

My darling friend Miss J gave me this patchwork toaster cover for Christmas. The detail & workmanship is incredible, & it's fully lined in a contrasting fabric. We knew it needed to be converted for modern day use, so I was on the lookout for some handles. These bamboo type handles cost at least $30 in the craft stores, so I was over the moon to find a set at a local op shop for $3. I think it's been transformed into the most amazing bag.

Desiree kindly sent me a message to let me know about the mother load of vintage patterns at one of our local oppies. There must have been over 100, in a range of sizes. At $1 each I picked 10 favourites. I seem to gravitate to that shift dress style.
Thanks so much for the heads up Des.

On with the sewing theme....I had a rather limited selection of cotton reels & general sewing stuff. I bought an entire box of threads, tape measures, needles & other paraphernalia for $3. Now I'm set.....just have to work up the courage to actually sew something!

Gripstand, Tape Measures and Old Bling

One of my favourite brooches is a yellow tape measure brooch handmade & gifted by Trudie. I love wearing it & people always ask me about it. I'd been thinking it would be handy to have one in another colour, so after finding some supplies this is what I came up with. I'm turning into a real Martha Stewart!

Yodelayheehoo

I haven't bought any frocks on Ebay for AGES.....but I broke the drought when I won this European cotton frock from the UK. It needed to be taken in a little bit (by Elna), but it's so cool & comfy, it has a pocket & it has RIC-RAC! Be still my beating heart! Here are some pics we took by the Brisbane River.
