Black Frock Friday

This frock would be up there in my top 5. I bought it from the Paddington Antique Centre back in 2011. It's a European cotton dress, with pink ric rac & sweet chevron type stripes on the bodice, in pink & blue floral on a black background. I think it's actually my most expensive dress as well at $45, but it was worth every penny as I'm sure I'll wear it for years to come.

Outfit Details......

Vintage dress - PAC
Vintage bag - Op shopped
Turquoise necklace/brooch & bracelet - Vintage Treasures
Old brooch - my Mama-in-laws
Turquoise ring, shoes & belt - Retailk
50's Sunglasses - Ebay

Garage Sale Extravaganza

I don't get to check out garage sales very often due to the limited days that I'm able to go out, but when I saw some ads for a couple of local sales, I knew it might just be worth the effort despite the heat. All I can say is I was not disappointed.
One was a lady who used to sell at the Gabba Antique Centre, who has moved all of her stock into a storage shed. It was huge.... I think I only saw about 10% of what she had. I bought the old pop up opera glasses below & a couple of frocks. The other garage sale was some house clearance stock from a couple who call themselves the Aussie Pickers. They have quit their regular jobs, & are picking for old treasures full time. They were the nicest people, & they gave me some of this stuff for free, with the most expensive price being $1. And how funny is this.....my best friend was at the same garage sale about an hour before me, & my Mum about a half hour before me, but none of us knew it until later. Great minds do think alike!

My poor old laptop hard drive is going in to get fixed this week & maybe gone for a while. I've scheduled a few posts for the coming weeks, but if I don't visit your blogs or make comments you'll know why! The timing couldn't be better really as we are heading to the Coast during some time off....surf, sunshine, relaxation, rest, markets, op shops, food & coffee. All of my favourite things. I'll catch up with you soon.

My Inspiration

We had a delicious dinner at my besties place a few weeks back, which meant I had an opportunity to photograph some of my favourite things around the living room. Miss J has an amazing home with lots of space for her quirky collections. Her eye for style is inspiring to say the least...........

Miss J found this genuine bus roll years before they became the "in" thing!

We share a thing for deers.....and antlers

Orange rocking chair from the PAC

 A random rusty old trap

 Old school counting board

I talked Miss J into buying the yellow West German vase from an op shop, & she's glad she did.

Some chairs we found at Endos

50 cent lamp from a garage sale

One thing that's still on my wish list, a printers tray.

Old industrial egg separator, with a super spunk behind it.

Orange Kelco cups & saucers from the Suitcase Rummage

Thanks for ALWAYS inspiring me & for sharing the vintage joy my dearest Miss J.
