Miss Polly Had a Dolly

I discovered my childhood doll when I was sorting through some stuff that's stored away. When I saw her I knew I had to bring her back into the light. I love her worn features, her up-do, but I'm particularly smitten with her frock. She's wearing a sweet pinafore over a dress, & it's all trimmed in glorious ric-rac. I think I probably appreciate her more now then I did all those years ago.

She sits on the bed of cushions, along with a hand knitted doll from an op shop.

  1. Oh she is adorable sweet........look at that super cute dress, any girl in a pinafore is a friend of mine. It's funny how we look at toys from our childhood in a different light now. I think it's all the unconditional love that's been poured into them when our hearts are light and free.

  2. She is just lovely! Isn't it great to unearth our old treasures. I recently found an old teddy bear that my daughter has now claimed as her own.

  4. How lovely that you've still kept you doll after all these years! She must be very special to you, and I understand that you feel that you appreciate her a lot more now. I feel the same about my childhood dolls that had been passed down to me from her childhood. Lovely to see that she is now back in the light with a comfy place to stay. xx

  6. My favourite doll was called Polly too, and she was passed on to my nieces, minus most of her hair and her "cry". How lovely for you to have a hand made doll.

  14. That is a very sweet doll. And that little crochet one is quite cute too.
I never owned a rag doll I don't think. But I did have a handmade cabbage patch doll.
